3/10 - VANS System

The Williston Police Department would like to make sure every victim of crime or person otherwise affected by crime is aware that the VANS system is now working in Vermont. This system is not affiliated with the Williston Police Department, it is run through the Vermont Department of Corrections, and is intended to inform victims of crime, or any other interested person, when an offender is arrested, released on bail, released on supervision, or has any other change in status with the Corrections Department. This is particularly important to victims of domestic assault, where the victim may be concerned and need to know when the offender is released. The system will call or email victims to let them know in real time the change of status.

More information can be found by following the links below. Again, this is a free service offered by Corrections, not related to the Williston Police Department, but it is a critical service we want all Vermonters to be aware of.
