PATROL DIVISION
MISSION STATEMENT 
The mission of the Williston Police Department Patrol Division is to
provide the most professional law enforcement response to the citizens
and visitors to our town at times of emergency. Our response will be bring
experience, a caring nature and follow through on issues to ensure that
we meet all the public safety needs our citizens.
Our officers will be involved in many aspects of law enforcement in town
as well as providing a number of proactive and educational tools to reduce
crime, reduce accidents and increase public awareness of issues related
to public safety.
Our organization is committed to community policing with an open communication
style that allows us to understand your needs and concerns. Your officers
will be active in the neighborhoods, our schools, and in our business
districts to ensure the safety net you expect and deserve is always in
place.
You, your children and their safety will be a priority for the Police
Department. We will accomplish our goals through good communications,
education, and aggressive enforcement of both our criminal and motor vehicle
laws.
Our
patrol officers will be in your schools on a regular basis developing
a positive relationship with the students and creating clear communication
with school officials and parents.
Our Patrol officers are very involved in very proactive and visible enforcement
of motor vehicle laws to help bring a reduction in personal injury accidents
and ensure our motoring public are safe.
Arresting persons who drive while under the influence is a priority for
our Department.
Directed Patrols - The Williston Police are active
in town addressing issues you feel are important. Each Officer while
on patrol has a list of “Directed Patrols” which are
requests from citizens, business owners and our staff requesting
additional or targeted patrols because of an expressed concern.
These patrols can be neighborhoods looking for speed enforcement,
businesses who are having theft problems, schools looking for increase
presence.
Bike Patrol - The officers of the Williston Police Bike Patrol Unit have completed a week-long, nationally certified training course taught by the Law Enforcement Bicycle Association (LEBA).
The main focus of bike patrol is Maple Tree Place, the box stores, and the Williston bike path, with enhancements geared toward community relations in residential neighborhoods and developments as shift availability permits. If you see them in your neighborhood, feel free to stop and talk to them! If your child needs a bicycle helmet, the bike officer can get one to you free of charge. The unit also does safety talks and demonstrations at the town’s schools.
