| Alarm Reinstatement ALARMS The Williston Police Department has a growing concern for the safety and security of our residents and businesses. With that concern comes a need for change in our procedures and standard response to alarms within the town. Approximately ninety-nine percent of the alarms our department responds to are false alarms. This becomes a concern mainly for the safety of our citizens and our officers. When an alarm is activated our department is notified and officers are dispatched to the site. Our officers go to the site as if there is a crime in progress, which usually entails a higher rate of speed which puts the public and our resources in danger. The fact that we respond to over three thousand incident calls per year, having our resources tied up with false alarm calls is a serious safety hazard. Effective January 1st, 2009, we will require that all alarm holders (expecting the Williston Police to be the primary responding law enforcement agency) become registered with the Department. Once the registration form is received by the Williston Police Department an alarm number will be assigned to the alarm holder. To effectively manage alarm records and ensure the proper police response, the monitoring company must present this alarm number when speaking with our dispatchers. We will obtain the customer’s alarm monitoring company information (name & telephone number) on the registration form. After an alarm holder is registered with the Williston Police, you will be sent the customer's alarm number. The Williston Police Department is dedicated to the safety and protection of our community, residents and the property we oversee.
